What Is Holding You Back?

What we believe about ourselves dictates how our life will go. Most of us have beliefs that are not true and hold us back from having the life of our dreams.

For instance do you say any of these things?:

- I’ll never be thin.
- I can’t afford it.
- I’m not smart enough.
- I’m a loser.
- Nothing every works out for me.
- I’m not pretty enough.

What is your excuse for not doing, being, or having the life you want?
Fill in the blank____________________________________.

Here is a little exercise to change those thoughts so you can move forward in your life.

1. Write down any ailments, pains, feelings you have.

2. Welcome any ailments, pains, or feelings you have. Write down a description of it. (How deep is it? What color is it? Really feel it.)

Often we just want to get rid of our pain and feelings but it is our body’s way of trying to tell us something, so take some time to really listen to yourself. Write whatever feelings, thoughts, and ideas that come to you. Writing with your non-dominate hand maybe helpful. The dominate hand is in touch with one side of the brain which gets used a lot. The non-dominate hand is in touch with the other side of the brain which can give us helpful insights. It feels awkward and looks like a first grader wrote it but it’s for your personal information so don’t worry about how it looks.

3. Ask the feeling what it is trying to tell you. Write it down.

4. Take any actions you sense would be helpful. One action you can do is learn Emotional Freedom Technique marymarsh.com/EFT and use it with what you have written down.
